#best practice, guidelines for Digital Promotions
Guidelines for Digital Promotions
I have been working with the IPM to produce a set of Guidelines to help promotional marketing agencies, brands and service providers execute promotional activity using digital.
#start-ups, very novel
Clever idea. With the recent commentary surrounding the use of cardboard boxes for toothpaste tubes, this idea is clever – and somewhat obvious. And with the Change.Org signatures at nearly 40,000 of the 50,000 sought, Alan Wurman’s #NOBOXTOOTHPASTE campaign may be working.
#mash-ups, Tour de France 2010, stage by stage
The Tour de France 2010 stage by stage
The Wall Street Journal has created a stage-by-stage map of the 2010 Tour de France, with a difference.
The maps, using the Google map platform, are in 3D and allow you to look at both the terrain and altitude – bringing home the physical nature of the event for the cyclists.
#esoteric, probably the best present you can give this Christmas
What’s the best present you can give this year?
This is thought provoking – and faces the train that is approaching us all.

The Centre For Common Sense In Marketing
Poliakov’s Pyramid Of Engagement, as conceptualised The Centre For Common Sense In Marketing (or something close as is possible nsfw) is viewed as:

Difficult to pronounce name?
#microblogging, the dangers of Twitter
Microblogging, again, an on-screen spat on Twitter (as reported by the BBC) shows the danger that exists for the uninitiated. Microblogging is a powerful communication channel – and one that has to be treated as such.
A political punch-up live on the net between Sally Bercow and person/s unknown.
Read it here in case it’s deleted.
#viral advertising, plucked from a top 10 list
Viral – I’m always keen to see how other agencies market themselves – and when they do it well, it’s good to applaud.
Boone Oakley, Charlotte NC, US, have produced a video of their website – creating an engaging story of sorts. The full #typed note is here …

#brand planning, the SMPR
This paper by Todd Andrlik, at Leopardo, charts the history of PR.
Skipping through this, it then concentrates on the conception of SMPR, social media press releases. I’m a strong advocate of these, within the context of a broader communications plan and policy. SMPR require ancillary content, tags, links and information – so it must be there in place for these to be utilised.
#business development, pitching, Pace Recorder app to help you monitor your voice

If you present to clients – this is an App that may help you.
Vocalytics co-founder Benoit Curdy talks here about his new start-up which is to help speakers work on their voice. The Android App, developed by the start-up, is a ‘personal voice trainer’ – allowing users to monitor their intonation (pitch) and speed (slow or fast).
